Materials Processing
At its three state-of the-art material recovery facilities located in Oakland and San Jose, CWS employees separate all types of recyclable material including paper, plastic, aluminum, other metals, glass, and textiles and prepare them for marketing. These operations employ a combination of mechanical processes and human sorting to recover as much material that can be remanufactured as possible.
CWS newest facility in San Jose is one of the largest single-stream processing facilities in the western United States and can handle over 500 tons per day of residential single-stream recyclables.
The San Jose plant is available for youth and adult tours.
